Mastering Cisco VXLAN, BGP EVPN, and NDFC for Advanced Data Center Networking


Prerequisites:

Participants should have:

 A basic understanding of networking principles and practices.

 Familiarity with Cisco IOS/NX-OS command-line interface (CLI) operations.

 Knowledge of IP addressing, subnetting, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).

 Understanding of traditional Ethernet VLANs and IP networking.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

 Understand the fundamentals and benefits of VXLAN in modern data center architectures.

 Deploy and manage BGP EVPN as a control plane for VXLAN to achieve network

segmentation, flexibility, and scalability.

 Utilize Cisco NDFC for centralized management and orchestration of network policies and configurations.

 Implement advanced VXLAN configurations, including integration with multicast networks.

 Troubleshoot common issues in Cisco VXLAN, BGP EVPN, and NDFC deployments.

Day 1: Introduction to Data Center Networking and VXLAN Fundamentals

 Challenges in traditional data center designs.

 Overview of VXLAN technology and its advantages.

 VXLAN encapsulation, VTEP, and VXLAN segment.


Day 2: Deep Dive into BGP EVPN

 Introduction to EVPN and its role in VXLAN environments.

 Understanding BGP EVPN operations and components.

 Configuring BGP EVPN for VXLAN on Cisco devices.


Day 3: Integrating Multicast with VXLAN EVPN

 Basics of multicast networking.

 Role of multicast in VXLAN EVPN networks.

 Configuration and management of multicast in a VXLAN environment.


Day 4: Cisco Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC)

 Overview of Cisco NDFC and its architecture.

 Installing and configuring NDFC.

 Managing VXLAN EVPN with NDFC.


Day 5: Advanced Configurations and Troubleshooting

 Advanced VXLAN and BGP EVPN configurations.

 Best practices for deploying VXLAN BGP EVPN networks.

 Troubleshooting VXLAN, BGP EVPN, and NDFC issues.


Hands-On Labs:

Participants will engage in hands-on labs throughout the course, including:

 Setting up a basic VXLAN network.

 Configuring BGP EVPN as the control plane for VXLAN.

 Implementing multicast in a VXLAN EVPN environment.

 Installing and managing networks using Cisco NDFC.
